👋🏻Hey, I'm Brooke

I grew up around construction sites, design decisions, and a family business that taught me a lot about how homes come together.

My dad was a custom homebuilder and my mom built a creative business rooted in art, textiles, accessories and decor. I always assumed I'd eventually work alongside my dad, even majoring in Spanish with the intention of joining his construction company and helping manage our Spanish-speaking crews. Life took a different turn when my dad became sick, and I ended up spending several years in education before finding my way back to design.

Over the past several years, I've had the opportunity to develop my own approach to design and grow the business into what is now BH Design Co. I love taking a space that isn't quite working and figuring out how to make it better — not just visually, but in the way it functions and feels to live in.

Today, my background in construction continues to shape the way I design. I enjoy working through the details, collaborating with builders and trades, and being involved from the early ideas all the way through the finished space. And, in the best way, I still get to use that Spanish degree almost every day when communicating with the wonderful Spanish-speaking crews we work with — something I'm genuinely grateful for.

Meet Courtney

Courtney and I have been friends for more than 20 years, so having her join the team in 2024 felt pretty natural.

With a background in education and hospitality management, Courtney brings a completely different — and incredibly valuable — perspective to the business.

As Head of Operations, she keeps the moving pieces moving: managing schedules, purchasing and tracking, coordinating communication between clients, designers, builders, and trades, and making sure everyone has what they need to keep a project on track.

She's calm, organized, and exceptionally good at making complicated things feel manageable. In other words, if things are running smoothly around here, Courtney is probably behind it.
